Building on its strong foundation in private markets, Pinnacle has recently expanded into merchant banking activities, leveraging its network, sector expertise, and investment platform to support high-quality companies through strategic capital, advisory services, and transaction execution.
Opportunity:
Pinnacle is actively seeking an Analyst or Associate - Corporate Finance, to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take a leading role in the Corporate Finance division’s ongoing issuer activities once familiar with Pinnacle’s high level of due diligence standards and internal processes. In addition, the role will provide exposure to the firm’s expanding merchant banking activities, offering hands-on involvement in transaction execution, investment analysis, and strategic advisory mandates.

Roles and responsibilities:

Provide ongoing due diligence for new and current offerings

Draft detailed research reports containing industry and financial analysis

Developing financial models for new and existing investment opportunities

Ensure that Pinnacle is following its compliance policies and procedures

Monitoring existing issuers cash flows, credit situation, covenants and collateral to ensure the ongoing viability of existing lending arrangements

Prepare investor presentations, financial models, and due diligence requests for Pinnacle’s Merchant Banking endeavours
Qualifications / Core Competencies:
-
Legally eligible to work in Canada
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA, CFA, or CPA (or progress toward) is an asset

1-3 years in investment banking, corporate finance, audit, due diligence, and/or asset management; new graduates may be considered with exceptional background

Adaptability, discernment and curiosity for the use of AI and LL.M in creating efficiencies in one’s work
-
Experience in mergers & acquisitions is strongly preferred

Knowledge of complex financial and business management concepts and practices used to evaluate and analyze financial and operational performance of companies across various industries

Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare complex documents such as due diligence reports, term sheets, and confidential information memorandums

Ability to effectively communicate and represent our firm in a very positive manner

Excellent analytical and conceptual skills for forecasting, innovative and creative problem-solving

Proficiency using Microsoft Office products

Ability to work extended hours and weekends when required

Final Thoughts:
This is a full-time, in-office position. The role requires daily collaboration with senior leadership and colleagues; in person engagement is essential for learning, mentorship, and deal execution. Candidates must be willing to work in a dynamic environment with varying priorities and timelines.
